Carly Rae Jepsen to Portray Cinderella on Broadway

Call her a Broadway star… definitely.

The 28-year old artist will make her big-time stage debut on February 4 in Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella, taking over the title role for Tony-nominated Laura Osnes.

Look for Jepsen to star in the production for 12 weeks, appearing opposite Fran Drescher (as Cinderella’s evil stepmother) for a majority of that time.

“Broadway has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl and I look forward to working with this incredibly talented cast to tell this classic tale,” Jepsen said in a press release. “These last few years have been a real fairy tale come to life for me, so I feel especially blessed to play this part and be reminded that you must never stop dreaming!”

This show opened on March 3, 2013 at the Broadway Theatre and earned nine Tony Award nominations, winning one for costume design.

Let’s hope Carly Rae’s stint goes better than this first pitch by the singer.
